Y4: Body words, sentences and Halloween cards

Today was the last day of our "body" topic.

 

We sang the "Cabeza, hombros, piernas, pies" song and did the actions.

 

We remembered our grammar rules:

 



 

We looked at our monsters and corrected our mistakes in our Spanish books.

 

We wrote Halloween cards to our Spanish penpals in Valladolid, and while we were writing it, we had to make SCARY faces and a photo was taken of everybody. These will be glued on the cards! Let's see who gets the "scariest face" prize from our Spanish friends!







 

Finally, we thought about what we have learnt this half term and completed some sentences about it.

Y4 - Sentences: No, S, Y

Today we have finished describing our monsters, keeping in mind that:

no comes before the verb

s is needed when we talk about more than 1 thing

y means and.

 



 

Those who finished early made a comic book page with the ComicBook ipad app.

The leaf monsters display in the classroom has been rearranged, watch this space for the photo.

Y4: Leaf monsters

Today we have practised our monster describing sentences:

NO: we need no for negative sentences, it always comes before the verb in Spanish.

S: we need to use s when we talk about more than one thing, just like in English!

Y: we need the connective "y" to join parts of the sentence together. It means and.

After describing our class monster, we were given leaves, pipe cleaners, glue on eyes and sticks and we were challenged to make some leaf monsters. We have finished them, next week we will all have to write some sentences about them and take them home!

 

 

 Some of them look too nice to be monsters:-)

We won a book!

I couldn't go in to school yesterday because I was too poorly, but I can't wait until next week to share the news with you: we won a book in a prize draw ! It is called The Book of Languages! It has a different language on every page, the history, a map with all the countries where they speak it and some useful expressions! How exciting! I will leave it in the corridor in the Spanish basket and I will set a challenge every week, like learn to count to 5 in Japanese or say hello in Portuguese...... :-)

Y4 - A connective: "y"

Today we learnt that we can join the body parts in one sentence with y! It means and, and it links parts of the sentence together when we describe our monsters.

We played the blindfolded artist, girls against boys, and Mr Matthews had to decide whose monster looked the scariest. Congratulations, chicas:-)!

 

 We described our monsters in our Spanish books, using "y".





Kieran brought a Spanish book and some tapes in to show us. He listens to the Spanish tapes to learn some words. Well done!


We recorded a short video to our eTwinning partners.

We listened to the Frozen song in 25 languages and remembered most of the languages at the end of the lesson.  You can listen to the this song or the Lego movie one if you click here.

Y4 - Monsters/ European Day of Languages

Today we have played "Heads down, thumbs up" with four sentences. The volunteers were holding extra body parts and we described them:

Tiene 3 orejas.
Tiene 4 ojos.
Tiene 2 bocas.
Tiene 4 orejas.

We started to design our own monsters in our Spanish books and glued real plastic eyes on them. Some of them look really scary!!!

Y4 - Tiene....

We had a busy lesson with a special visitor today.

First we revised our body words we learned last week, then we had a "lucky" volunteer who came out to the front of the class to be the class alien! Mrs Culshaw described her like this:

Tiene tres ojos, cuatro orejas, una boca y una nariz.

She had to wear this hat, pictured on Valentín here.

 

Then we practised tiene with María, our noisy puppet. Hope we all remember that tiene means he has got/she has got....

In the second half of the lesson we had a real treat: Becky, a friend of ours came to talk about Sanfermines, the bull racing festival in Pamplona. She actually went there and ran with the bulls! She showed us lots of pictures and we asked her a hundred questions. Some pupils got the chance to try her red scarf and belt on. We are very lucky, thank you Becky for coming to give us a presentation!

 

 

 

The Spanish leader from last week got his reward, he did so well practising the words every day with the class. We picked the new leader for the 5 A DAY challenge.

Y4- Body

In Year 4 we have learned some body parts: la nariz, (the nose) los ojos (the eyes), la boca (the mouth), las orejas (the ears).

We know that it is easier to learn new words if we practise saying them a lot, so we played our favourite games. We had fun trying the new detective sunglasses on!

 

Mr Potato Head helped us learn the new words.

 

We sang "Cabeza, hombros, piernas y pies" from our CD , Mrs Culshaw will have to practise pointing to her eyes instead of her nose when she hears "ojos"!

 

We picked the Spanish leader, good luck to her next week!
